City of the Future book cover in white with thin silver lines in an organic pattern

City of the Future

A book to record an architectural group’s vision of the future in the 1960s.

Solution

‘Influenced by nature’. The recurring theme from research was the relationship between ecology and technology. A striking linear structure within an architectural model provided the basis for the organic pattern that flows throughout the book. A cloth spine ensures the book lies completely flat when open allowing the pattern to run freely across the spreads. A rational, utilitarian typeface was chosen to reflect the spirit of the manifesto.
